Allwinner A10 chip is all the rage with cheap Chinese tablet makers February 26, 2013Posted by Ishmael Chibvuri in Latest Articles!!!.
A new Chinese processor called the Allwinner A10 is showing up in a growing number of inexpensive Chinese tablets. The chip features a 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor core, Mali 400 graphics, HD video capabilities and support for up to 1GB of DDR3 memory.
Best of all, it’s available for prices as low as $7 when ordered in bulk.
Despite the high clock speed, the chips should offer decent, but not spectacular performance or battery life. ARM Cortex-A8 architecture has been around for a few years and doesn’t offer the advantages of multi-core chips based on Cortex-A9 or Cortex-A15 designs.
Still, today’s cheap tablets are starting to offer the kind of performance that we would have expected from high-end phones two years ago. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
In Zimbabwe these tablets are being sold for nearly 2400% (USD167.00). Are they really worth it? Well find out more on the links below.
